station coverts natural fuels like coal, water (for hydroelectricity), nuclear
and others into the electrical energy. The power generated under this station
ranges between 11kV to 25kV, used for long-distance transmission. Its power
plant is classified into three major types, i.e. thermal, hydropower, and
nuclear power plant. The main components of generating substations are the generator
and the transformer.
Transmission

substation carries the generated power through overhead lines from generation
center to distribution substations. It supplies the bulk of energy power
substations or huge consumers. The transmission lines transport the electrical
energy from generating stations to several receiving ends. Also, it
interconnects two or more generating stations, including the neighboring
substations.

A sub-transmission system is a component of a transmission system that connects high
voltage substations to distribution substations via step-down transformers. The
sub-transmission system directly serves some large industries. The capacitor
and reactor are located in the substation to handle the transmission line
voltage.
Distribution

The distribution system is the electrical power system that connects all the
consumers in an area with substantial power sources. Bulk power stations are
connected to substations generated by transmission lines. They usually eat at
certain substations located at the vantage points near the load stations.
Substations distribute electricity to domestic, commercial, and relatively small
consumers. Consumers require large amounts of power that are usually supplied
in sub-transmission or transmission systems.
